The subject matter of this painting is the wake off the ship the Centurion VII, the hour long passenger only ferry that services the remote community of Lasqueti island.  

"Tonight and Friday.  Strong wind warning in effect.  Wind southeast 35 to 40 knots except southwest 30 near Qualicum Beach late this evening and overnight. Wind becoming southeast 25 early Friday morning then becoming northwest 5 to 15 Wednesday afternoon. Wind increasing to northwest 35 to 45 Wednesday evening."
